About

Oliver is a composer based in New York operating across feature films, television, trailers and commercials.

Oliver’s compositions for strings feature in Beyoncé’s films Renaissance and Black is King and in scores for the Palme d’Or winner, The Water Murmurs. He brings a wealth of experience and enjoys the emotional versatility and sonic range offered by strings. His compositions range from writing contemporary soundscapes to British folk music using period instruments.

Oliver loves to let his imagination run loose on projects, whether adding strange items to violin, viola or talharpa (a prototype Viking cello) to create unique sounds, timbres and textures or through combinations of differing genres and styles. His broad and eclectic taste in music informs his writing style in both film and commercial spaces. Oliver works together with brands, including Google, Rolls Royce, LG, Moët, American Express, Denny’s, Patron and Argos. He also enjoys collaborating with fashion labels such as Theory, Loewe, Victor & Rolf, Drest and Carhartt and has scored shows at London Fashion Week and the V&A Museum.

Having studied violin since the age of five, he subsequently returned to the Royal College of Music, where he gained a MMus in Composition for Screen.
